The position

Your responsibilities

Based in Brussels, the Head of Communications will drive communication for the DS Smith Packaging division.

  • You contribute to that DS Smith brand and purpose are known and understood in the European and local organizations, to ensure consistency in external as well as internal communication.

  • You develop and implement a communication plan to position DS Smith as a leader in their market. You will travel where needed to create impact within the European operations. You engage in meaningful storytelling and drive campaigns to increase brand awareness.

  • You work with key internal stakeholders including company leadership, corporate communication and regional management. You ensure close and effective collaboration with external stakeholders such as press, communication agencies, trade associations, etc.

  • You challenge, enable, coach and support your team of local communication managers in order to reach ambitious results and accelerate their development by excellent leadership.

  • You work with and report to several key functions within the Divisions leadership team.

Your added value

  • You have an in-depth experience in an international corporate communications (leadership) role in a blue chip environment.

  • You have a Master’s degree in languages, communication, journalism, marketing or similar.

  • You have gained experience in an international company with complex reporting and collaboration lines. You are experienced in managing teams working in a matrix structure.

  • You can fall back on your project management skills, track record in management of external partners and are constantly looking for innovation in communication media and technology.

  • You have the energy and pace to challenge, spar, exchange, initiate in an exciting and fast moving environment.

  • You are fluent in English. You possess excellent written and spoken communication skills. Mastering other languages is a plus.
