OUR METHODOLOGY IS PROVEN, AND IT WORKS. THIS SHOWED UP IN A RECENT CASE; IN THIS CASE, THE CLIENT DID NOT TRUST ITS OWN METHODOLOGY, SO THEY TURNED TO US. THIS WAS A GERMAN COMPANY LOOKING TO IMPLEMENT A NEW COO.
THEY ALREADY HAD PROCESSES FOR INTERNAL ASSESSMENT AND RECRUITMENT. WE ASKED THEM TO BRING OUR OWN METHODS INTO THEIR PROCESS. INITIALLY, THERE WAS SCEPTICISM; THERE WAS A VERY “WE KNOW EVERYTHING” ATTITUDE. THE ORGANIZATION HAD ITS OWN RECRUITMENT EXPERTS AND THOUGHT THEY KNEW THE BEST WAY TO DO THINGS.
HOWEVER, OUR SCIENCE-BASED PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT TESTS PROVED TO BE THE PERFECT FIT FOR THE ORGANIZATION. THEY KNEW THAT THEY NEEDED SOMETHING DIFFERENT; MOST OF THEIR ATTACHMENT TO THEIR OLD METHODS CAME FROM TRADITION MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE. TO GET THE RIGHT EDGE THAT THEIR RECRUITING REQUIRED FOR THIS CRITICAL POSITION, MERCURI URVAL’S TOP-NOTCH, SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN ASSESSMENTS NEEDED TO SAVE THE DAY.
WE CONDUCTED A THOROUGH, STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS TO FIND SUITABLE CANDIDATES. THAT MEANT CANDIDATE MARKET ANALYSIS, A PROPER EXECUTIVE SEARCH BRIEF, AND A PROPER SHORTLIST. AFTER THE FIRST INTERVIEWS WITH THE CANDIDATES, THE COMPANY REALIZED THAT MERCURI URVAL’S APPROACH, PERSONALITY AND BEHAVIOUR ASSESSMENTS MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE.
THEY DID NOT EVEN NEED TO STRUCTURE THEIR INTERVIEWS SINCE THE PROCESS WAS ALREADY THERE. THE COMPANY COLLECTED A LOT OF DIFFERENT CVS, SHORTLISTED FIVE PEOPLE, AND EVENTUALLY DID TWO ASSESSMENTS. WE ENLISTED THE HELP OF A SWISS-BASED COLLEAGUE FOR A SELECTION RECOMMENDATION.
OUR TEAM TOOK A DEEP DIVE INTO THE CANDIDATES’ TRACK RECORDS, LOOKING FOR THE INSIGHT THAT WOULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE. THAT MEANT LOOKING AT WHAT SOMEONE DID SUCCESSFULLY IN THE PAST IN SIMILAR ENVIRONMENTS. THE NUMBERS SHOWED WHETHER THE GROWTH CAME NATURALLY OR THROUGH ACQUISITIONS, AND WE LOOKED TO SEE HOW THE PERSON WOULD BEHAVE BASED ON THE DNA OF THE NEW ENVIRONMENT.
BASED ON THE REFERENCES, THE TEAM STATED THAT THE RESULTS CONFIRMED WHAT THEY INDICATED IN THE ASSESSMENT. IN THE SHORT REPORT BASED ON DATA, WE RATED THE CANDIDATES BASED ON MOTIVATION, WORKING STYLE AND LEADERSHIP STYLE, MAKING A COMPETENCY MODEL AND ORDERING THEM WITHIN AN AREA. AS IT TURNED OUT, THE TEAM GOT THE RIGHT CANDIDATE; IT’S BEEN A GREAT FIT SO FAR.
