Daniela Gelmi
For three decades, Daniela Gelmi in our Milan office has built an outstanding reputation through her professionalism, expertise, and enduring contribution to MU and our clients. She is widely recognised for her work across Fashion, Luxury, Consumer & Retail, and Professional Services, and she was among the first to embrace a direct, targeted search approach, a model that later became widely adopted across the industry, including within our own organisation.
Daniela brings much more than market insight and client expertise. Her warmth, wit, elegance, optimism, and intercultural intelligence have made her a highly valued colleague and a trusted partner to clients. Her commitment, especially in the Consumer Goods and Luxury sectors, has enriched our business and helped shape the positive, collaborative environment we value so much at MU.
As we celebrate Daniela’s 30th anniversary at MU this year, we recognise not only her professional achievements, but also the lasting impact she has had on colleagues, clients, and the culture of our Milan office.
Let us introduce Daniela Gelmi.

Director | MU Italy
When I joined MU, I was looking for more than just a role. I was looking for a professional environment where quality, rigour, and human judgement truly mattered. Over the years, I have remained with MU because it offers a rare combination: the independence of a specialised firm, a scientific and structured methodology, and a strong culture of collaboration.
A Career Shaped by Continuous Growth and Specialised Expertise
What has kept me here for 30 years is not one single moment, but the ability to keep growing. MU has given me the opportunity to work across Executive Search, Recruitment, Leadership Assessment, and Advisory, while also allowing me to deepen my expertise in sectors that I care deeply about. That combination of breadth and specialisation has made the journey both stimulating and meaningful.
Another important reason I have stayed is the people. Throughout my career, I have worked with highly skilled, supportive colleagues across different countries and functions. That spirit of collaboration, together with a value system that creates trust and belonging, has always made MU feel like a place where long-term careers can genuinely flourish.
International Client Work and Lasting Impact
Looking back, some of the highlights of my career have come from managing key international client relationships and working on complex assignments together with colleagues around the world. These experiences allowed me not only to contribute to successful outcomes for clients, but also to continue learning, adapting, and expanding my perspective on leadership and business. One example that stands out is a long-term capability review project we have delivered for a major multinational professional services company. For around five years, we have supported the annual evaluation of Senior Managers and Directors for promotion to Partner. Our role has been to provide clear, evidence-based insights into each individual’s strengths and development areas. The fact that the client continues to trust us in such a critical process year after year is something I value deeply. It also shows the strength of MU’s methodology and the importance of combining rigorous assessment with practical business understanding.
For me, that is what makes MU special. We do not only fill roles or complete assignments. We help organisations make better leadership decisions, and in doing so, we create value both for our clients and for the people who work here.
