Shaping the energy transition – from oil and gas to renewable energy

In this online event, Linda Kirchberger will first give an insight into her career path in the oil and gas industry and her motivation to switch to renewable energy. She will share her success factors and the obstacles she had to overcome to progress in her career, also addressing the role of the company culture. Furthermore, she will dive into the current challenges and success factors around the topics of driving decarbonization and developing new technologies in her role as Head of Business Unit at Wien Energie and Managing Director at Vienna Hydrogen GmbH.

Linda Kirchberger studied applied geophysics at the Montan University and has 20 years of experience in the oil & gas industry. Most recently, she headed the OMV E&P Technology Center and Laboratory as well as the New Technologies Department.

In August 2022, she took over the Asset Decarbonization & New Technologies division at Wien Energie, the biggest local energy supplier in Austria. In this role she is responsible for the decarbonization of district heating, geothermal energy, large heat pumps. Additionally, she controls the research and development for future solutions such as storage, circular economy and green energy supply.

She has been one of the two managing directors of Vienna Hydrogen GmbH since March 1st, 2023.
