Chief of Oncology Department - Epicura - Belgium

Develop and lead Oncology and create a difference for our patients

As Chief of our Oncology department you will take up a transversal role in our hospital and our network, while leading a professional team of physicians and putting oncology at the top of the agenda while creating an inspiring vision for the future.

Responsibilities and tasks

Reporting to the Medical Director, you will be in charge of our oncology department, the oncology program and its future development. Your tasks and responsibilities include the following:

  • Act as a Medical Doctor within our Oncology practice while at the same time transform and manage the oncology service.
  • Streamline and optimize operational processes within the oncology department, guaranteeing a smooth workflow and enjoyable but efficient patient journey, while involving other departments throughout the hospital.
  • Restructure and transform the oncology activities through modernization, implementation of up-to-date innovations and sharing of knowledge.
  • Support the Medical Director in the creation of an overall medical plan, putting oncology as main driver.
  • Lead a team of 9 physicians (5 oncologists and 4 hematologists), building bridges and closing gaps, communicating a single vision and strategy.
  • Act as a mentor and coach to junior and new colleagues, and assist in the recruitment and hiring of oncologists based on future growth.
  • Represent the hospital within its network and in relation to other hospitals.
  • Participate in research and innovation projects within oncology and with other medical departments, and develop our clinical research activities.
  • Attend a set of fixed and optional meetings on behalf of the oncology service and of the hospital.

Experience and Qualifications

You are a practicing oncologist in a hospital or medical practice (or have very recently ceased medical activities), with a degree in Oncology from a European university and a solid track record in oncology. You have experience in leading teams and can communicate a vision and opinion within your medical field. You are a great networker and have excellent communication skills. You speak fluent French and English. Relocation to Belgium is a necessity.
