Benedikt Börner has been a consultant at Mercuri Urval since 2015 and in the position of Principal as of this year. He acts as a leading consultant for mandates in the field of technology industry: technology for manufacturing (e.g. automation technology, control systems, SMART, AI) and digitization (for small and medium-sized companies). Benedikt Börner has managed a large number of consulting mandates relating to the search, selection, promotion and development of talent at middle to top management levels, and has developed expertise especially in family-owned, manufacturing medium-sized companies.
Born and raised in Hamburg, he studied business psychology in Munich and Cologne with a focus on personnel and organizational psychology. At the same time, he gained professional experience in the purchasing department of a medium-sized, owner-managed media company and then began his career as a headhunter in an executive search boutique specialized in mandates in the manufacturing industry and the life science sector. In the course of his master thesis, Benedikt Börner analyzed the use and necessity of a human resource due diligence during M&A procedures of medium-sized companies as well as large corporations (i.e. DAX-30 constituents).
During his studies, Benedikt Börner has remained connected to his alma mater until today and frequently gives lectures on professional orientation and career entry for young professionals. For some years now, he has been accompanying students from various backgrounds through a mentoring program and contributing his experience from consulting mandates to a wide variety of professional fields. In addition, he combines his expertise in the commercial area with the knowledge of his master's thesis and regularly writes articles on the ideal fit of personality with the corporate strategy (in magazines such as "Unternehmeredition" or "M&A Review").
Benedikt holds a Master's degree in Business Psychology and is fluent in German and English and has a good understanding of the Italian language.
