Husqvarna Group is searching for a VP - Head of Battery Competence Center, with a global responsibility to drive and develop Husqvarna Groups capabilities for electrification and battery technology. Location Sweden or Germany.
Electrification is a key strategic priority for Husqvarna Group. To bring Husqvarna Group to the forefront of battery technology, Husqvarna Group is now creating a new organizational set-up, a team of battery experts from different parts of the organization who together with other stakeholders will form the Husqvarna Group Battery Competence Center. The Vice President - Head of Battery Competence Center is a key role with the global responsibility to establishing the Battery Competence Center, and transform it into an advanced technology center with the future ways of working.
The Vice President - Head of Battery Competence Center (VP - Head of BCC), is expected to develop and provide an outstanding and competitive battery and charger program by consolidating the Husqvarna Groups capabilities and competencies within Battery technology and build the strategic capability roadmap for the Group.
The VP - Head of BCC is responsible for the Battery Competence Center (BCC) organization and ensure to always have the required capacity and team of capabilities. In phase one, Husqvarna have identified a large team of engineers from all three divisions, all connected to battery development. The team members are currently based in Sweden (Huskvarna and Jonsered) and Germany (Ulm and Karlstein), and there is no plan to re-locate them, instead build a virtual team.
Therefore, the VP - Head of BCC, must have a strong ability to envision, engage, delegate and trust people to take on responsibilities. Throughout the geographic challenge it will be important to have the ability to lead people remotely in a virtual context and show presence and continuously visit each site.
BBC will be a new Husqvarna Group Function with the independence to drive development for the entire group. To ensure that the development is in line with the business, BCC will be governed by a cross divisional Board of Directors (BoD) represented by all three divisions and the VP - Head of BCC will report directly to the BoD. The position is based in Sweden or in Germany and entails extensive international travel.
We believe that you hold minimum a Bachelor in engineering and a senior management experience with proven people leader skills. You have a solid working experience from an international industrial company together with a strong stakeholder management ability. We see that you have an experience from Product management/R&D, within the electrification and/or battery technology area. Fluency in English is a requirement and knowledge of other languages is considered a plus.
The successful candidate needs to have a strong understanding and ability to drive and manage projects and task within a matrix and project environment. This requires a structure and clear way of working, and a prestigeless and pragmatic approach. In the same time be confident enough to make decisions in a complex stakeholder environment to drive development forward. Have a well developed business acumen approach to be able to understand battery development in line with Husqvarnas business strategy. Furthermore, it’s important to have a strong interpersonal ability, be a good team player and have an interest in other people's knowledge.
