Guide and represent the ECG association throughout Europe, hold conferences and manage a variety of automotive industry trends.
Responsibilities & Tasks
Responsible for the future-oriented development of activities and organization of the professional association and thus of the Finished Vehicle Logistics (FVL) sector in Europe.
Plan, analyse and track all FVL market developments and propose business model or product development initiatives. Therefore, be on the forefront of new technologies, together with the members, and be able to recognize shifts in the market (Blockchain usage, new ways of distributing and inspecting vehicles, new ways of owning/accessing cars, new truck technologies, new fuels, solar power, etc.).
Represent the interests of the association and its members in all respects (including making an appearance through lectures and media contributions).
Initiate, plan and execute hirings in order to improve the performance, hence medium-term development into Executive Director position and leading the competent team (currently 5 people).
Office location can be flexible, whereby a presence at ECG’s headquarters in Belgium is required on a regular basis. Associated with this is a willingness to travel (approx. 50%, depending on home base) to members, fairs and other political stakeholders.
Reporting to the Executive Director as well as to the President of the ECG.
Profile & Requirements
Ideally a degree in business administration, however, a practical education in logistics business development/sales is sufficient.
Several years of professional, ideally operational, experience in the Finished Vehicle Logistics industry are compulsory.
Specific logistics qualifications, including having attended the ECG Academy, would be a definite advantage, as well as familiarity with/experience in accounting would be useful as there is the need for financial management in order to construct budgets.
Solid track record of being a networker and exceeding commercial targets.
Self-motivated character who enjoys working in a political, fast-paced and disruptive environment.
Business fluency in English is compulsory. Other languages beneficial.

ECG represents the interests of over 130 member companies and partners, from family-owned SMEs to multi-nationals, and is the major champion of the European vehicle logistics sector.
ECG represents all transport modes at EU level – road, rail, maritime and fluvial. ECG Members provide transport, distribution, storage, preparation and post-production services to manufacturers, importers, car rental companies and vehicle leasing operators across the European Union as well as Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and beyond. They own or operate more than 380 car-carrying ships, 14,900 purpose-built railway wagons, 28 river barges and more than 27,000 road transporters.

ECG members have an aggregate turnover of around €23bn and their economic impact on companies associated with the sector is estimated at €60bn. More than 145,000 Europeans are employed directly by the vehicle logistics industry and an additional 300,000 are indirectly employed in this sector.
