You support the operations, engineering, maintenance & HSSE dept. for all regional terminals. You ensure that high quality & sustainable operational procedures, good engineering practices, safety & quality improvement programs are implemented.

Your responsibilities:

  • Identifying operational priorities by assessing operational objectives; determining project objectives, such as, efficiency, cost savings, energy conservation, operator convenience, safety, environmental quality; participate in/support due diligences and project feasibility studies.

  • Define as member of the A&O Leadership Team and in line with the strategy the long term goals of the assets & operations of Oiltanking and implement decisions being taken on A&O Leadership Team  level;

  • Being the Project Sponsor on special A&O related projects. Monitor and audit the various operational excellence programs in place or being implemented in the terminals;

  • Ensure that all approved capex projects are being applied on terminal level, the required conditions are being checked and corrected before submission to the headquarter for final approval, and that all mandatory and obligatory specifications, legal standards and corporate guidelines are respected and implemented on terminal level;

  • Identify/recommend together with the terminals where headquarters support on engineering level will be required or is recommended. Ensuring knowledge sharing from headquarters towards the terminals/regions and vice versa;

  • Work closely together with the Terminal, Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and HSSE Managers of the operating companies within the region as well as with the General Manager (GM) Central Engineering and GM Operational Excellence & Compliance. Liaise with GM Central Engineering on all engineering related issues;

  • Supervising and supporting the design and construction of tank terminals and connected infrastructure on a regional scale, considering standards, budgets and legal requirements.

  • You report directly to the Regional Director Oiltanking Europe and dotted to the Regional Director Oiltanking Nordics & Baltics. You also have a functional reporting line to the Director A&O Oiltanking GmbH.


  • A technical Master degree (e.g. Engineering) or similar technical knowledge by experience;

  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience in an operational-technical environment, preferably within the gas, chemical, oil or petrochemical or tank storage industry;

  • Sound knowledge of terminal engineering related tasks, capex projects, due diligences and project feasibility studies, process safety management, HSSE quality management (continuous improvement), operational methods, procedures and (automated) systems, incident investigation, risk analysis, main equipment and infrastructure;

  • Several years of proven people and change management experience in an international environment, teamwork and relationship-building capabilities;

  • Ability to adapt to different regions, cultures and environments and the willingness to travel (20+%) within the region;

  • Good communication skills, diplomatic skills and fluent skills in English and Dutch language.
