Country Manager
Stephen focuses on supporting national and international clients with the selection and development of leaders and leadership teams in a variety of situations including – performance improvement, start ups, post merger integration and international re-structuring and change.
Stephen’s work has spanned a variety of sectors including Financial Services, Technology, Medical / Pharma, Infrastructure and Public Sector. A common theme throughout these projects has been the need to improve results through managing internal and external clients better and improving operational performance. Over the 20 years that Stephen has been involved in management selection, development and executive search he has assessed the capabilities and potential of over 1,000 managers, led the search and selection for over 400 key roles, coached over 50 executives and around 30 management teams.
In addition to his responsibilities for creating client value Stephen is General Manager of Mercuri Urval UK and Chairman of the Board of Mercuri Urval Australia. Stephen’s upbringing was quite international and he grew up and was educated in a variety of African and European countries. After graduating he served as an Officer in the British Army with the Royal Engineers where he trained as an Army Diver and served with the Airborne Forces before joining TNT Express the global logistics business. Stephen joined Mercuri Urval in 1990. He is married with two children, enjoys the arts and staying fit and active through a variety of sports and activities. He completed the London Marathon ( slowly ) in 2009 and is a ‘trainee’ beekeeper – he plans to have his beehive populated with its first swarm of bees in Spring 2010.
