About the Opportunity:

In this high-visibility position, you will be responsible for aligning the team with Company mission, vision, values and strategy, and bringing  Imerys’ goals and targets into actions and initiatives through the Americas Sales and Marketing Team.  Sales goals are set for 2017 based on previous growth and customer projections by existing Sales Managers and are achievable for the incoming sales leader.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage global annual sales and marketing budgets for assigned applications and customers.

  • Lead the development and execution of the Americas sales strategy to meet changing market conditions.

  • Guide and take corrective action to ensure budget target achievement.

  • Foster, facilitate and engage in the direct contact between Imerys’ departments (e.g. R&D, Marketing, Production, etc.) and the customers.

  • Continually gather and synthesize competitive market intelligence and customer requirements.

  • Identify growth opportunities to achieve targets of the company’s  5Y plan.

  • Drive Business Opportunity pipeline in SalesForce.

  • Coach and support Area Sales Manager with negotiation of sales contracts; coach, direct and evaluate performances of Sales Team.

  • Support Marketing activities by attending relevant trade shows, conferences, and seminars.

  • Manage agents and distributors by regularly monitoring  their activities and target attainments.

  • Prepare monthly sales report and participate in relevant leadership meetings.

Required Qualifications Include:

  • University/Bachelor’s degree

  • 5-10 years’ experience selling technical products or processed minerals in the US in one of the following industries:  Mobile Energy, Engineering Materials, Polymers, or Refractories & Metallurgy.

  • Experience leading sales teams.

  • Experience working in an international environment.

  • Proficient with MS Office applications and experience with CRM.

Preferred but not Required Qualifications Include:

  • Major degree area preferably in engineering, chemistry or materials science, or alternatively a commercial background with strong experience selling technical products such as minerals.

  • Spanish, French or Italian language skills are beneficial but not required.

  • Experience working in an international environment.


Location & Travel: 

The Sales Director Americas will be located near a major US airport preferably on the East Coast.  Travel is expected to be up to 50% primarily domestic, with  occasional visits to Switzerland for training or corporate meetings.
