Udo Schmickler

Before Udo joined Mercuri Urval, he was Vice President and General Manager for the Gartner Group in Germany and Austria, where he grew the business by more than 30% in two years.  From 1994, Udo spent six years at Nortel Networks as Vice President and General Manager, leading the $2billion Enterprise Business in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.  During the late 80s and early 90s he was Managing Director for Data General's subsidiaries in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. His early career developed firstly through systems engineering at IBM, then Sales and Marketing, and as MD Germany at Wang Laboratories.  Udo’s breadth and depth of experience enables him to provide real value-add in his work with Board and Executive Teams as they seek to drive their businesses forward.

Udo is very proud of his son's medical degree and has himself a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Mannheim. Born in Cologne, he is a keen supporter of 1.FC Köln and Formula 1 at nearby Nürburgring.
